What is Rye? The beauty of rye is that it is an ancient grain, also referred to as a heritage or heirloom grain. This means that rye seed has not been modified since its inception. It still contains the same genetic makeup it did thousands of years ago.
What is rye used for? Our premium conventional rye is ideal for baking bread, biscuits, sweet bread, and baked goods. Loaves of bread made with rye have a deep flavor that features a nutty, earthy taste.
How do you prepare rye? Rye wheat may be ground into flour, flaked, or cooked and eaten as a side dish! Rye has an unusually high level of fiber because fiber is found not only in the bran but also in the endosperm! As a result of this, rye may generally have a lower glycemic index than wheat and most other grains.
Why choose our rye? Our products are cleaned by a Minnesota Crop Improvement Association (MCIA) approved facility. This allows us to be able to provide you with a premium cleaned product.

"Our daughter has a medical condition that requires her to follow the AIP (AutoImmune Protocol) diet.
We are always in search of grains that she can eat without negative side effects. Fast forward to a presentation that Brenda from Chisholm Trail Farm did locally where she spoke about their varieties of grains with less or no gluten. I ordered their Rye flour and their Hard Red Spring flour. SUCCESS! After one and a half years, our daughter can have bread! Real bread that she can toast and that doesn't crumble apart. This might not work for everyone, but we are exicted that Chisholm Trail Farm has given us this option. We are happy we gave it a try."

"The other night I didn’t have yeast to bake bread, so my husband grabbed a loaf of our old favorite store brand. But once you’ve baked with your flour, there’s no going back. Your flour makes bread that’s full of flavor—something store-bought bread just doesn’t have, even when I tried to dress it up with peanut butter. Thank you for creating products that are amazing."

"I was looking for buckwheat flour that is glyphosate-free. I have been ordering this flour for many months and it has been of an excellent quality. The customer service I have experienced is above and beyond any company I have used for purchasing products online. I highly recommend Chisholm Trail Farm!"

"I love the buckwheat flour. It makes excellent waffles and is the the best I've used - texture and taste are amazing! Knowing that it is grown without glyphosate is important to us."

"To make a long story short on what led me to Chisholm Trail Farm L.L.C. for our flour needs…
Years back I noticed a sensitivity to store bought bread. This sensitivity started around the time bread stopped molding when left on the counter too long. I was delighted to find a store that sold breads that came from a bakery in Canada, and consumed that for a few years. I started to feel similar symptoms with the Canada bread and noticed that the bread wasn’t starting to mold like it used too… As a diabetic, I have to be careful with carbs, but bread for sandwiches or toast, was one of the better options for a carbohydrate. My wife knew of this local farm owner, that mills flour from grains they grew. We started purchasing flour from them, and bake our own bread! It tastes better than anything you can buy in a store as far as I’m concerned! It’s whole wheat bread, so that benefits digestion. There’s more protein which makes it a better option as a diabetic. More importantly, in my opinion, no preservatives! I notice a difference in how I feel when I eat bread made with this flour. Whether you buy the berries and mill you own, or have them mill it for you… give Chisholm Trail Farm L.L.C. a try! You won’t be disappointed!"

"Flour from Chisholm Trail Farm is truly the real deal!
I’ve been baking with their Rye Flour and Hard Red Spring Wheat Flour and I have only good things to say about their products. Flavor you can actually taste, beautiful fermentation in my bread and the extra bonus of being stone-milled to order.
Thoughtfully grown, local and family-run, this is the kind of flour that makes every loaf intentional!"
