We Win Some, We Lose Some

Last week was hectic on the farm! With the return of planting after three weeks of rain, the fields are alive with activity and the unmistakable hum of farm equipment. With all the hustle and bustle, comes battles that we win and battles that we lose.

Back to Planting

The start of the week saw us getting back to planting with renewed energy. Planting always renews a person. It’s a reminder of the cycle of life and the promise of future harvests. Mike and Alex worked in the fields, ensuring every seed was planted with care.

Endless Equipment Fixes

As every farmer knows, machinery has a mind of its own. This week, it felt like every piece of equipment decided to act up. For some reason there were days it felt like it was a continuous cycle of fixing and tweaking. We faced one challenge after another, but with determination and a bit of ingenuity, we managed to keep everything running.

Wind, Heat, and Hard Work

The weather added another layer of difficulty. The wind was relentless at times, and we had our hottest day of the summer so far!  Working under such conditions is tough, but it’s part of farm life. Hydration, sun protection, and regular breaks became essential to keep everyone safe and productive.

Preparing for Gary Days

Amidst all the farming activities, we’ve also been gearing up for the annual Gary Days celebration in Gary, MN. It’s an event we look forward to every year—a time to connect people that we only get to see this time of year and have some fun.

Bear Sighting!

In a surprising twist, Mike and Alex had an unexpected visitor while working in one of the fields. They spotted a bear across the road! It's not every day you see a bear while planting. Thankfully, it kept its distance and wandered off without causing any trouble. It was a stark reminder of the wildlife we share our land with and the need to stay vigilant.

Wrapping Up

As we wrapped up last week, we were filled with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation. There’s always more work to be done, but we’re grateful for the progress we’ve made and the adventures we've encountered along the way.

Thank you for following along with our journey. We appreciate your support and look forward to sharing more stories from our farm. Until next time, stay safe and enjoy the beautiful summer days!

As the week comes to a close, it's time to reflect on the progress and challenges faced on our farm. Let's take a closer look at the key highlights from the past seven days.
