The Farming Lady Frets

It's finally Friday but in the world of farming we know that doesn't matter! The weekends are few and far between, there are only acres that need to be planted, sprayed, harvested, etc. The list goes on. It has now come to be the time of year we are harvesting our wheat and our rye. That always brings anxiety and why I fret most days because there will be breakdowns, parts runs, dinners and suppers to run, all besides trying to find time to do my own job! In the end, it all gets done and another year is put behind us. But in the mean time I will be doing updates on how harvest is going. But first, I believe I should introduce ourselves!

We are Chisholm Trail Farm. We are a small family farm located in northwest Minnesota. We raise wheat, rye, soybeans, corn, ancient grains, buckwheat, and whatever else Mike decides will be different yet profitable for us to raise. Mike and I have been married for 22 years and have three children. Our oldest, Savannah, is in nursing school; Morgan, our middle, is going for accounting; and Alex, our youngest and Mike's right hand man, leaves in three weeks for college in which he will be going for an electrician. There are many changes coming when he leaves and with that many frets I have.

As I fret, I am going to take as many as I can with me on this journey! I look forward to having you come along and help keep me sane. As a distraction I will be providing information that I believe is informative about wheat in today's world and what we are doing at the farm to help make wheat more accessible to everyone! Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend. Keep us in your prayers as we will be cutting and combining rye.
