Here we are. My first blog post. I thought I would share a picture right away so you can see who is behind the scenes at Chisholm Trail Farm. My husband Mike is in the back, at that time he was the tallest! From left to right we have Morgan, Alex (who is now the tallest), Savannah and me, Brenda! This was when we picked up our motor home to be able to experience our first Griswald, I mean Chisholm, family vacation to Florida in 2018. I wish we would have had our picture taken when we dropped off the motor home. Those were not the expressions on any of our faces after two weeks of togetherness! HA! But a good time was had.
This trip got Mike and I thinking about how we could make more of a difference with our crops and our cattle. Mike has always had the goal to process and package his crops for direct shipping or providing meat for people by pick up location or delivery. We kept kicking the idea around, would initiate starting up but life would take over and we would stall. As of today, April 1, 2020, we took the plunge. I published our website, I am anxiously trying to navigate the world of email campaigns, and now I am putting my family out there for the world to know. This is all scary but it is a feel good scare, if that makes any sense at all!
We wanted to provide our food to the people for two reasons: we want people to know where their food comes and that the people that are providing their food care about them. The world is so scary at this point. As I write this from my home office in Gary, Minnesota we are on a Shut In Order from Governor Walz because of the pandemic. We put the website up because we can't schedule drop offs and people are apprehensive about delivery, which is understood. I know I take a deep breath before I open the door for UPS and I love my UPS delivery driver! A heartfelt thank you shout out to the man that handles all my packages!
We want everyone to know that we love what we do and want to be able to provide for you a product that you know is processed with pride, packed with care, and sent to you with the excitement and anticipation. We want you to be able to have a product that not only benefits you but puts your mind at ease that you are giving to your body and your family food that is well taken care of.
Please know that right now we have one product available but are adding more products very shortly. Right now we are trying to figure out the shipping logistics and getting supplies lined up so we wanted to start with one product to work out the quirks.
