Welcome back! We took a break from blogging in December to be able to take a breather and get ready for the holidays but also we had ducks to get in a row! What ducks you ask???
Big news is stirring here at Chisholm Trail Farm! We are thrilled to announce the construction of a brand-new facility that will allow us to process and package food directly from our farm. This project is a significant step forward in our mission to bring high-quality, locally produced foods straight to your pantry. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the hard work that’s gone into making this vision a reality.
In October, the groundwork for the facility began in earnest. Mike and Alex rolled up their sleeves and got to work on preparing the dirt slab for the concrete foundation. This wasn’t a quick or easy task—it was a labor-intensive process requiring teamwork, precision, and perseverance.
Alex took charge of hauling dirt, ensuring there was enough material to create a solid base. Meanwhile, Mike handled the leveling process, carefully grading the site to ensure it met all the specifications for the concrete pour. The duo’s efforts were a true testament to the spirit of teamwork and dedication we value.
The big moment arrived on November 1st when the concrete was poured. Watching the foundation take shape was an exciting milestone for everyone involved. The slab represents more than just a base for a building—it’s the foundation of our dreams to expand what Chisholm Trail Farm can offer. With the foundation in place, we’re one step closer to completing this transformative project. It’s an investment in our farm's future and the community we proudly serve.
Even though we are building, we are excited to announce that we will have products available to you in the middle of January. We will be starting with three incredible products: rye wheatberries, hard red spring wheatberries, and buckwheat groats. These offerings represent the heart of our farm-to-pantry philosophy, bringing you wholesome, nutrient-rich foods directly from our fields. Whether you’re a seasoned home baker, a health-conscious cook, or just someone who loves delicious, locally sourced ingredients, these products are perfect for you.
We’re incredibly grateful for the hard work and dedication of Mike, Alex, and everyone who has supported this project so far. Stay tuned for more updates as construction progresses. We can’t wait to share the finished facility with you and bring you even closer to the heart of our farm.
